The New Year began with our new project on Bracken Hill by the Battery, as you will see from the pictures all the ground ivy and the self setting trees have been removed taking the area back to how it must have been when the Battery Tea garden was situated there in the early 1900s.  We certainly don’t plan to be serving teas up there but it will be a beautiful place for a picnic or just to sit a while and take in the views.  We uncovered a trench that goes back to times when the villagers needed to guard Alnmouth from enemy attack, There are those  who grew up in the Village who remember building camps and having  adventures in and around that trench area in their more youthful days enjoying a childhood reminiscent of an Enid Blyton story.  (or so I am told)!
